Four checks that decide whether a prize clears

  1. An open state

Registration may accept any address; the location check at log-in does not.

  2. The right age

18 at most casinos, 21 at some, 21 for everyone at Stake.us.

  3. Matching ID

Name, birth date and address must match your document before a redemption is paid.

  4. The calendar

Oklahoma closes on November 1, 2026. We re-check this page monthly.

Background

How the closures happened

Washington and Idaho were closed before anyone else because their existing laws already treated sweepstakes redemptions as gambling. Michigan followed when its Gaming Control Board, which licenses real-money online casinos, sent cease-and-desist letters to every major sweepstakes brand.

Purpose-built bans arrived in 2025: Nevada’s SB 256, Montana and Connecticut from October 1, New Jersey in August and New York by year end. California’s AB 831 took effect on January 1, 2026, and Indiana, Maine, Tennessee and Louisiana passed laws during 2026. Oklahoma’s ban starts on November 1, 2026.

Bills were debated and dropped in other states, Maryland among them. Casinos usually email registered players a few weeks before a closure and pay pending prizes before the date.
